British Columbia is probably my favorite place in all of North America. The people there are awesome, the views are breathtaking, the skiing is awesome, and Time Hortons isn't all that bad. Similar to the Australia story my friend and I never do anything with a plan. We landed and decided to get a rental car, they were out of the boring cars we normally rent. So they handed us the keys to Dodge Challenger, had a V8, did not have tires when we gave it back. Not sure how we didn't kill ourselves in that car. But once we got settled we decided to hit downtown Vancouver, conveniently there was a WhiteCaps game that night so we hit that. Made friends with everyone around us, so after the twin girls who were sitting in front of us took us to a bar, then ditched us. We still had a blast.
The next morning we drove up to Whistler to do some boarding, that drive is amazing. Heres a shot to prove it.
Skiing up at whistler was so much fun. Once again my friend and I having no plan let us stumble into a great time. Somehow the Canadian equivalent to American Xgames was happening, and the whole mountain was a giant party. At one point an ex-professional rugby player had me on his shoulders, using me like a squat bar, to do squats. There's a video of this if none of you believe this. We ended up back in the city that night.
The next day we decided to do some more boarding, so went to a little mountain right above Vancouver called Grouse. This place is so cool here's some photos, you get to ski or board with a view of downtown.
We boarded at this place all day, never got bored. The cool thing about grouse is that it has night skiing/boarding. So after all day on the mountain, we stayed all night on the mountain. The mixture of being in the mountains, boarding, and having a view of the Vancouver skyline is something else. If you ever get the chance you have to check it out.
